Panel — foundation and stitch pattern
Chain 41. This creates a panel roughly 12 inches wide at gauge; adjust in multiples of 4 for wider or narrower.
Row 1: sc in the 2nd chain from hook and every chain across (40 sc). Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: sc in each of the first 3 sts, *ch 1, sk 1, sc in next 3 sts,* repeat across to the last stitch, sc in last st. Ch 1, turn. This creates a repeating open-mesh look — that's the boho texture.
Row 3: sc in each stitch across (working sc into the ch-1 spaces as well). Ch 1, turn.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the panel is roughly 20 inches tall. Fasten off, weave in ends.
Optional pointed hem
For a triangular bottom (shown in the finished piece), work decreases at both edges every 4 rows near the end: sc in first 2 sts, sc2tog, work pattern across, sc2tog, sc in last 2 sts. Continue narrowing until 4 stitches remain. Fasten off.
Attaching to the dowel
Lay the dowel across the top edge of the panel. Fold the top inch of the panel forward around the dowel and whip-stitch it down to the panel's back, encasing the dowel.
For the hanging cord, attach a 24-inch length of yarn to each end of the dowel and tie together at the top. Fluff the knot to hide it.
Making the fringe
Wrap yarn around a 6-inch piece of cardboard about 30 times. Cut along one edge — you now have 30 identical 12-inch strands.
For each fringe: fold one strand in half. Insert your crochet hook through the bottom edge of the panel from back to front. Catch the folded loop of the strand, pull it partly through, then thread the two loose ends through the loop and pull snug. Repeat across the bottom edge, one fringe every other stitch.
Trimming and finishing
Hang the piece from the dowel. Use sharp scissors to trim the fringe across the bottom in one long, straight cut (or angled for a chevron look). Give the fringe a light comb to fluff.

Troubleshooting
The panel curls at the sides.
Your tension is tight or the edge stitches are missing. Add a border round of single crochet after finishing the pattern — it locks the edges flat.
The fringe looks uneven.
Wait until every piece is attached, hang the piece on the dowel, then trim across the bottom in one straight cut. Never trim as you go.
The dowel is visible through the top.
Add a second row of single crochet along the top edge, worked around the dowel itself, to fully wrap and hide it.
