Editorial policy
This page describes how we write, test, review, correct and update content on Crochet & DIY Corner. It is maintained by the site owner and updated whenever our process changes. Last reviewed: June 2026.
1. Who writes for the site
Every article is written by a named contributor and reviewed by a second editor before publication. We do not publish anonymous or AI-generated content as if it were human-written. Authors and their credentials are listed on our About page.
2. How patterns are tested
Every crochet pattern is stitched at least once in-house, following the exact written instructions. Any ambiguity found during testing is rewritten before publication. Baby-safe patterns are washed and checked for stray ends before photographs are taken.
DIY tutorials are built in our studio using the materials listed. If a material is hard to source in one region, we call that out and link to alternatives.
3. Photography
All in-project photography is original to this site. We do not reuse the same photograph across multiple articles, and we do not license stock photography for pattern hero images. Every finished project is photographed under natural or controlled continuous light — no filters that misrepresent yarn color.
4. Sources and citation
Techniques passed down through the craft (e.g. the classic granny square, the magic ring) are noted as traditional. Where a technique or motif comes from a specific designer or tradition, we credit and link. We cite the following industry references:
- Craft Yarn Council Standard Yarn Weight System
- CGOA (Crochet Guild of America) glossary and standards
- Manufacturer yarn labels for care and fiber information
5. Fact-checking and content review
Before publication, every article is reviewed for:
- Correct crochet abbreviations and stitch counts
- Working links and correct product references
- Safety considerations for baby, child and pet-adjacent projects
- Attribution of any technique or motif with a known origin
6. Updates and corrections
When we correct a factual error, we update the article, add a note at the bottom explaining what changed and when, and update the “last updated” date. Minor typo fixes are silent; anything that changes materials, stitch counts, or safety guidance is always noted.
7. Sponsored content and disclosure
When a post is sponsored or contains gifted yarn or tools, we disclose it at the top of the article. Affiliate links (which pay us a small commission if you buy through them) are marked throughout the site and disclosed on our disclaimer page.
8. Comments and community
Reader corrections and questions are welcome. Comments are moderated for spam and civility; personal attacks and self-promotion are removed. Corrections submitted in comments are reviewed by an editor and, if valid, folded into the article with credit if the reader wants to be named.
